Founder & CEO
Matthew Lawrence (He/Him), B. Eng.
In 2017, Matthew established EDUCO as a small initiative to help students succeed in their educational journey and provide a service for junior high and high school students to prepare for final examinations. Matthew is a recent Memorial University graduate with a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering. While completing this degree, he gained experience working in onshore and offshore oil and gas. He was successful in receiving “The Director’s Awards for Exemplary and Outstanding Work Terms.” Matthew has over 8 years in educational experience. His experience ranges from junior high level courses to post-secondary introductory courses. Matthew acknowledges that the transition from high school to post-secondary can be overwhelming, which pushes him to offer an educational service that meets the learning needs of all students. Matthew overall has a passion for helping students reach their full academic potential.

Academic Mathematics / Social Media Manager
Leah Barron (She/Her)
Leah is currently completing a Bachelor of Social Work at Memorial University. Throughout high school, Leah had always believed that she wasn’t capable of achieving high marks in math courses, and could not see her full mathematical potential. Her lack of confidence in this area hindered her performance. Leah understands that an increase in confidence level will enable students to reach their full academic potential and after finding her confidence, Leah moved on to become an outstanding tutor for all academic math courses. She is devoted to not only supporting her students academically but also supporting their journey to increasing their confidence level.

Annika Lindstrom (She/Her)
Annika is currently in her third year at Memorial University, completing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Comparative Biology. Annika is working towards pursuing a career as a Veterinarian. She graduated top of her high school class as Valedictorian with Advanced Math and Calculus courses, as well as third-level Chemistry and Biology. Annika’s approach to tutoring enables her to work with a variety of learning styles as she strives to lead her students to success.

Tyler Hennessey (He/Him)
Tyler graduated in 2019 from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, completed a French Major Designation in 2020 and is currently in pursuit of an Education degree with an anticipated graduation date in August of 2022. Tyler’s French skills are a great asset to our private tutoring program as he works with his students on their French reading, writing and comprehension. He is excited for the remainder of the school year as he believes tutoring with EDUCO will give him a great opportunity to help youth develop their French skills, and help him prepare for his desired career as a teacher.

Victoria Samson (She/Her)
Victoria is currently completing her third year of a Business Commerce Degree at Memorial University. She specializes in grade 9 math, high school level advanced math courses including calculus, high school level physics and high school level English courses. She is committed to supporting her students on their educational journey and helping them to achieve academic excellence. For Victoria, academic support is not the only important component of education, she also enjoys building a connection with each student.

Miranda Newman (She/Her)
In April 2021, Miranda graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Applied Mathematics. She is currently completing a Bachelor of Education and is in pursuit of a career as Junior High or High School Math Teacher. She is currently completing an internship and is thoroughly enjoying her experience helping students. Through her classroom experience, Miranda not only understands the meaningful impact she can make on her students but also how much she can learn from them. Her goal is to not only help her students grow academically but remind them mistakes can be seen as learning opportunities and encourage them to never give up.

Nursing
Megan Cole (She/Her)
Megan is a fourth-year Bachelor of Science Nursing Student at Memorial University of Newfoundland who excels academically. She has been named to the Faculty of Nursing Dean’s List for the past 3 years and has received numerous awards for both her academic success and extracurricular involvement. Megan has over 7 years of experience as a tutor. She has a passion for helping others and is thus, an exceptional educator. Megan recently began specializing in all nursing theory courses and provides excellent support to nursing students completing the BScN degree. She is excited to help nursing students gain the knowledge, confidence and skill needed to succeed in their nursing career!

Brianne Chafe (She/Her)
Brianne is an undergraduate student at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador majoring in Physical Education and a minoring in History. She recently joined the EDUCO team to assist with all aspects of our operations and work diligently on our educational resources. Brianne has a passion for education and had the opportunity to complete a Physical Education practicum with students ranging from grades K-8. During this, she had the opportunity to step into a teaching role and discovered that forming a connection with students and educating youth is one of her many passions. Brianne strives to create environments where all individuals feel safe and included. In high school, Brianne was successful in achieving “The Lisa Williams Memorial Award” for displaying a positive attitude towards learning.

Caroline Perry (She/Her)
Caroline has three years of experience tutoring various subjects both online and in-person. Caroline specializes in K-12 French as well as post-secondary French courses (Français 1500, 1501, 1502), Math (K-9), and Social Studies (K-12). She graduated from Memorial University in April 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in French & Geography, and will complete her Bachelor of Education in August 2022, allowing her to pursue a career as a French Immersion teacher at the Intermediate/Secondary level. Caroline values one-on-one tutoring because it is a completely personalized learning experience, allowing students to meet their educational needs and obtain their goals. She takes pride in teaching because it is a discipline where she can see future potential growth and development in herself and others.

Ally Cleary (She/Her)
Ally is an undergraduate student at Memorial University, majoring in History and minoring in Religion. She has over 5 years of tutoring experience. Ally enjoys helping others succeed academically and expanding their love for learning. She has experience tutoring a variety of subjects including academic, and advanced high school Math, high school level Physics, and high school level English. Ally has completed introductory post-secondary math courses, including math 1050, 1051, and math 1000. Throughout her years of tutoring, Ally has discovered that each student has their own unique learning style. She recognizes that each student requires different methods of tutoring to achieve academic success, and become more confident in their work!

Krista Butler (She/Her)
Krista is currently completing the Primary/Elementary French Immersion program at Memorial University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spring 2021 with a double major in French and English. She specializes in French and she is able to academically support students in any K-6 subject area as well as junior high and high school French, English and Social Studies courses. Krista can also support students with French or English University courses. Krista has a great background in reading and writing, thanks to her French and English degree, and therefore, is so excited to be able to help students with these skills, both in French and English. Krista is passionate about helping students learn and excel in their studies. She is loving her time in the Education Faculty and is so excited to integrate her skills as she academically supports her students. Krista is grateful for the opportunity to build confidence while encouraging her students to achieve their own lifelong love of learning!

Gabby Dupont (She/Her)
Gabby is currently in her last semester of an Honours Degree in Behavioral Neuroscience at Memorial University. Gabby has been tutoring since she graduated from high school and developed a strong passion for working with students to grow and build their confidence. Gabby has experience working with a variety of academic subjects. Gabby’s focus will be on high school level Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as introductory post-secondary Physics courses. Gabby has been a long-time dance instructor at a local dance studio in Mount Pearl and volunteers with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program as a Big Sister. Gabby’s enthusiastic and bubbly personality allows her to build strong connections with her students and take a fun, innovative approach to learning. Gabby is also very excited to work alongside such a great team of Educators.

Patrick King (He/Him)
Patrick is a second year student at Memorial University studying Computer Science and Pure Mathematics. As an educator, Patrick academically supports students with junior high math courses, high school math courses (Academic, Advanced, Calculus), and introductory level university math courses (Math 1090, 1000, 1001, etc.). Patrick became interested in mathematics when he was in high school and wanted to pursue further studies in the broad subject area. Whenever Patrick should be studying but decides to take a break, he enjoys spending time outdoors going on walks and hikes, playing and listening to music, watching television or movies, and of course, spending time with friends or family (especially his dog). Patrick is eager and excited to support you through your academic journey!

Emily Spurrell (She/Her)
Emily has been a valued EDUCO team member for the past 4 years. She is a second-year Bachelor of Process Engineering Student at Memorial University and is working towards pursuing a career in medicine. Emily graduated from high school with Honors French Immersion in addition to advanced math and calculus courses. Emily also successfully completed high-school level chemistry and biology. Emily takes a client-centered approach to tutoring which enables her to work with a variety of styles as she focuses on helping students understand the material by allowing them to lead the way. Emily specializes in K-6 math courses, junior high level math courses (English and French), high school level math and high school level chemistry. Emily is also able to academically support students with university level chemistry courses (1050/1051). She has also worked with some basic courses from CONA.

Cameron Gaulton (He/Him)
Cameron is a fourth-year Applied Math and Physics (Honours) Major at MUN. He is completing an honors thesis that will focus on mathematical biology with an interest in diabetes. Once completed his undergraduate degree, Cameron’s goal for his university career is to complete a master’s degree in mathematics as well as complete the Bachelor of Education as a second degree. Cameron has been tutoring for the past five years which has provided him a considerable amount of experience with tutoring students of many grade levels and post-secondary courses. Each unique experience with his students has allowed him to obtain suitable teaching styles for every client, assisting them to develop their understanding and achieve their individual goals. Cameron specializes in junior and senior high academic and advanced math, chemistry, and physics courses, as well as third-year university level math courses, and first-year university level physics courses.
